Alex Sandro’s Emotional Farewell to Juventus

Alex Sandro bid a tearful farewell to Juventus, marking the end of his tenure with the club after equalling a record 327 appearances. The Brazilian defender, whose contract ends on June 30, chose not to renew, and received a heartfelt send-off at Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin. In the 2-0 win against Monza, Sandro, starting in the lineup, scored a rare goal by heading in a corner from Nicolò Fagioli—his first goal in Serie A since April 21, 2021, against Parma.

Reflecting on his journey with Juventus, Sandro expressed profound gratitude and emotion. “I have never cried so much in my life,” he told DAZN, emphasizing the special connection he felt with the fans, the city, and Italy as a whole. Highlighting the relationships he built over the years, Sandro stated, “What I take away from Juve is love and respect.” His appreciation extended to his teammates and supporters, acknowledging the warm welcome he received throughout his career with the club.

Special Moments and Tributes

During his farewell match, the absence of coach Max Allegri, a significant figure in Sandro’s career, was noted. Sandro praised Allegri’s influence, acknowledging the coach’s faith in him both as a player and a person. “It is impossible to talk about my career without mentioning Allegri,” Sandro remarked, underscoring the coach’s impact on his development.

As he was substituted, Sandro’s emotions were evident. He saluted the crowd and hugged each teammate on his way off the field. He then took his time walking around the pitch, thanking the fans and receiving numerous scarves and flags as mementos. Following the match, a special jersey with his name and the number 327 was presented to him, celebrating his record-equalling appearances for a foreign player, a mark he shares with Pavel Nedved. His teammates added to the celebration by tossing him into the air, before he presented the Coppa Italia trophy to the crowd, bringing an emotional close to his storied Juventus career.
