Paris Saint-Germain is set to lose star left-back Achraf Hakimi after just one season at the club.
Reports coming from Parc De Princes indicate that the player is not happy, as the squad dynamics have broken down and players have refused to talk to each other anymore.
PSG had what will go down in football transfer history as the best summer window ever, bringing in Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos and Gini Wijnaldum on free transfers.
Hakimi was added to the mix, after Inter Milan received a handsome fee of €67 million for the Moroccan who was key to their Scudetto win the season before. The former Real Madrid man hit the ground running faster than the other signings, and looked to be the most successful.
However, the environment has changed and the club’s dynamics are in shambles. Reports say this could lead to mass exits, including that of Hakimi.
According to French journalist Daniel Riolo, who spoke on RMC Sport, Hakimi is “freaking out” and wants to leave the club because there is so much division in the dressing room at the moment.
Riolo claims that the South American players especially have ostracised Hakimi, leading to him looking for an exit.
Hakimi frustrated with PSG boss and team tactics
The 23-year-old Moroccan was signed until 2026 and PSG see him as a long term investment. This alone makes it a complicated operation for Hakimi to leave the club after just one year.
It is also believed that Hakimi’s frustrations largely come from the way he is being used under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, the club could be hiring a new manager at the end of the season, as the rumours of Mauricio Pochettino’s exit from the French club continues to gain ground. This could convince the Spanish-born Morocco international to remain at Parc De Princes beyond this season.
Real Madrid purportedly hold an interest in bringing back their former right back and it remains to be seen how all parties involved will handle the issue.
