Gamecocks extend winless run after goalless draw with Ngezi

Chicken Inn FC extended their winless run in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League to two matches after being held to a goalless draw by Ngezi Platinum at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.

The result marks the Gamecocks’ second draw in four matches, highlighting a slow start to their campaign as they continue searching for consistency.

Speaking after the match, Chicken Inn head coach Tonderayi Ndiraya admitted his side lacked confidence in the most parts of the game but welcomed the point.

“I will take the point because we are coming from a loss. It is not easy to regain confidence immediately after defeat. The players worked hard, but we were cautious against a strong and confident Ngezi Platinum side,” he said.

He added that Ngezi Platinum controlled large parts of the first half, benefiting from momentum gained in previous matches, where they have maintained a positive start to the season.

Meanwhile, other results from matches played yesterday, saw Simba Bhora draw 0-0 with Highlanders, while CAPS United secured a 2-0 victory over Hardrock. FC Platinum and TelOne played out a 2-2 draw.

Action continues on Sunday with MWOS going up against Bulawayo Chiefs at Ngoni Stadium while Scotland hosts FC Hunters at Rufaro Stadium. ZPC Kariba plays Manica Diamonds at Nyamhunga Stadium and Agama facing Dynamos at Wadzanayi Stadium.

All matches are scheduled to kick off at 3pm.
