Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo as uncertainty surrounds his status under new coach Xabi Alonso. Luis Enrique, who manages the Parisian club, is actively encouraging the club’s hierarchy to pursue the Brazilian winger. Since Alonso’s appointment, Rodrygo has seen limited playing time, featuring only once as a starter—in a match against Al-Hilal—and accumulating just 23 minutes across the next three fixtures.
Despite having a formidable front line, PSG are aiming to reinforce their attacking setup. Enrique does not believe current options such as Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Bradley Barcola will be enough to sustain the team through a full competitive season. Concerns about fixture congestion and player fatigue are leading him to push for more depth. Additionally, striker Goncalo Ramos does not appear to be in Enrique’s plans for high-stakes matches, further prompting the search for another forward.
Interest strengthens as Madrid considers options
According to Fichajes, the Parisian club continues to monitor Rodrygo’s situation closely. Despite Xabi Alonso publicly stating the player’s importance, the 24-year-old has only played a total of 88 minutes since the Club World Cup began, sparking speculation over his future at the Bernabéu. The limited involvement under the new regime may offer PSG an opportunity to act.
Enrique sees Rodrygo as a flexible and experienced option in attack. His ability to operate in various roles across the frontline is highly valued by the PSG boss, who sees him as an ideal fit alongside the current roster. The player’s maturity and background in top-tier European competition, particularly in the Champions League, make him an appealing addition.
Financial hurdles and rival interest
Any potential transfer will not come easily. Real Madrid, although not entirely closing the door on a departure, are unwilling to consider offers below €80 million. The Spanish giants are confident in their ability to generate strong interest and maximize value if they decide to sell.
Arsenal have also entered the picture, reportedly keeping tabs on Rodrygo’s availability. The Premier League club sees him as a potential partner to Viktor Gyokeres, should Sporting CP agree to a sale. However, with PSG’s financial strength and recent European success, the French side are in a strong position to put forward a convincing case to both the player and Real Madrid.
