Reports suggest that Arsenal have secured full personal terms with Cristhian Mosquera.
The Gunners are believed to be targeting the 21-year-old centre-back as dependable cover for their starting pair, William Saliba and Gabriel.
With Gabriel sidelined by a hamstring injury in April, the addition of another top-quality central defender would offer Arsenal more flexibility to rotate their primary centre-back partnership.
William Saliba, the 24-year-old French international, made 35 Premier League appearances last season, having played every league match in the 2023–24 campaign.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal are working on a fresh offer for Mosquera after Valencia turned down their initial £12 million bid.
The North London side are aiming to seal the deal with a fee that surpasses £17 million.
Mosquera began his journey at Valencia’s academy at age 12 and made his senior debut in 2021. Since then, the 6-foot-2 defender has featured in 104 games for Los Che.
On the international stage, Mosquera has represented Spain across every youth category from U15 to U23, earning 36 caps overall. He was also part of the Spanish squad that captured Olympic gold last summer, though he has yet to appear for the senior national team.
Arsenal have been highly active in the transfer window as they look to end their Premier League title drought—ongoing since 2004—after finishing second in three straight seasons under Mikel Arteta.
With experienced midfielder Jorginho departing for Flamengo on a free transfer and Thomas Partey expected to leave, the club has agreed to sign Brentford’s Christian Norgaard in a £15 million deal. Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi are also tipped to arrive soon.
Despite these moves, Arsenal’s main objective this summer is to bring in a striker. Both Benjamin Šeško and Viktor Gyökeres are under consideration, with Šeško reportedly being the preferred option. However, according to Mail Sport, RB Leipzig are driving a hard bargain, knowing Arsenal’s pressing need to bolster their attack.
