Real Madrid seek early deal for Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid are working to finalize the arrival of England international Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. The 26-year-old, who has confirmed he will not extend his time at Liverpool, is expected to move to the Spanish capital as a free transfer.

Although Alexander-Arnold’s contract is set to run until 30 June, the tournament in the United States begins more than two weeks earlier. Madrid are keen to have the right-back registered in time to feature in the squad for the competition.

Spanish club prepares compensation offer

To secure the defender’s availability before his deal with Liverpool officially ends, Madrid has reached out to the Premier League club. They are reportedly ready to offer around €1m (£850,000) as compensation to release him sooner.

Additionally, the La Liga side is said to be open to covering the remaining salary Liverpool owes the player in an effort to make the transition smooth. The ongoing discussions have been described as positive between all sides.

FIFA opens short transfer window

FIFA has announced a limited transfer period from 1 to 10 June to allow clubs taking part in the Club World Cup to update their squads. This timeframe gives Madrid a chance to officially register new signings such as Alexander-Arnold.

Should an agreement be reached, Liverpool would have the opportunity to recover a portion of value for a player departing on a free transfer, with all negotiations continuing in good spirits.
