Paris St-Germain’s hopes of completing an undefeated Ligue 1 campaign ended with four matches remaining, as they were beaten by Nice at Parc des Princes. The French champions had already secured the title earlier this month and had gone 30 games without a loss.
Morgan Sanson, making his first start of the season, opened the scoring for Nice after 34 minutes. PSG responded quickly, with Fabian Ruiz equalizing seven minutes later through a well-taken half-volley.
Sanson strikes again as Nice pull off upset
Just one minute into the second half, Sanson restored Nice’s advantage with a volley from close range. The visitors added a third in the 70th minute when Youssouf Ndayishimiye headed in from a free kick.
Despite PSG dominating the attacking statistics, with 32 shots and 13 on target, Nice were clinical, converting all three of their efforts on goal. The result boosted Nice’s push for a Champions League spot while ending PSG’s historic bid.
Luis Enrique looks ahead to Arsenal clash
PSG manager Luis Enrique praised Nice’s defensive resilience after the match. Speaking to DAZN, he said, “We attacked in many different ways, they defended incredibly well.”
Enrique added that he hopes to see a similar level of attacking output when PSG face Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday. “We would love to play the same kind of match against Arsenal and have 30 chances, but we have to congratulate Nice and we will do our best to support each other,” he said.
