Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou says he will be around “a little bit longer” after guiding his side to a 1-0 win away at Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night. The result secured a place in the Europa League semi-finals, where they will face Bodo/Glimt from Norway.
Just a day earlier, the Australian coach admitted he wasn’t sure about his job security following the second leg in Germany. However, the win has brought renewed optimism to a fanbase that has endured a difficult season.
“This gives our supporters something to look ahead to,” Postecoglou said, acknowledging the challenges faced by the club’s followers. Despite a tough domestic campaign, which sees Tottenham sitting in 15th in the Premier League, he remained confident in his group.
Belief never wavered in challenging season
Postecoglou made it clear that outside opinion had little influence on how he worked. “It doesn’t matter to me what others think,” he stated. “My focus is always on the team environment. If the players and staff are behind what we’re doing, that’s all that matters.”
He pointed out that the players’ continued support throughout the season has kept him motivated. According to the manager, even during difficult stretches, the squad remained united in their efforts to improve and stay committed to the club’s ambitions.
The former Celtic boss also referenced the club’s injury issues and how the return of key players gave him confidence they could still achieve something this season. “That’s what kept me going,” he explained.
Despite nearing the club’s joint-worst Premier League finish since 1994, Postecoglou emphasized the importance of internal trust and resilience. “There’s still a chance to do something meaningful,” he said.
