Inter Deny Frattesi Transfer Request, Roma Deal Improbable

Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi remains unlikely to return to Roma during the current transfer window, despite speculation surrounding his future. Inter President Beppe Marotta clarified the situation in an interview with DAZN, stating that Frattesi had not requested to leave the club.

“Frattesi is a good person and a consummate professional,” Marotta said. “He hasn’t expressed any desire for a transfer. As a club, we generally avoid selling players, but we do consider it when someone clearly communicates the wish to move on. So far, Frattesi hasn’t done that.”

Roma Financial Constraints Hinder Move

A potential deal for Frattesi would require Roma to pay over €40 million, a figure that appears to be beyond their reach. Roma coach Claudio Ranieri addressed the matter in an interview with Sky Sport Italia ahead of the team’s match against Bologna.

“There’s nothing set in stone, but realistically, spending that kind of money is not feasible,” Ranieri admitted.

Frattesi, a product of Roma’s youth system and a lifelong supporter of the club, has been linked with a return due to limited playing opportunities at Inter. However, financial limitations and the high valuation placed on the player make the transfer highly improbable.

Player Sales Could Influence Outcome

A move for Frattesi could depend on Roma’s ability to generate funds through player sales, with captain Lorenzo Pellegrini among the names mentioned. Napoli has reportedly shown interest in Pellegrini but is also exploring other midfield options.

With the January transfer window nearing its midpoint, the likelihood of Frattesi returning to the Stadio Olimpico continues to diminish. Unless significant changes occur, both clubs appear set to maintain their current rosters for the remainder of the season.
