Mbappe returns to France training after nose injury

Kylian Mbappe returned to training with the French squad on Wednesday after suffering a nose fracture in their opening Euro 2024 match against Austria. The 25-year-old was seen wearing a protective bandage and started his training session alone. It is still uncertain if the French captain will participate in the second group match against the Netherlands in Leipzig on Friday.

The French Football Federation (FFF) had previously stated that an update on Mbappe’s condition would be provided on Wednesday. The forward had to be substituted in the game against Austria after a collision with defender Kevin Danso’s shoulder during an aerial duel. The fracture was confirmed at a hospital in Dusseldorf before Mbappe rejoined his teammates in camp. The FFF also noted that a protective mask would be prepared for him.

Reactions and future matches

Following the incident, Mbappe was booked for returning to the pitch and sitting down, which interrupted the game. Austrian defender Kevin Danso, 25, later expressed his regret on X, wishing Mbappe a swift recovery and apologizing for the injury.

In recent club news, Mbappe signed with Real Madrid after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired this summer. France’s last group stage match will be against Poland on Tuesday.
