Victor Osimhen’s latest goal is a screamer in the media as many clubs are now hustling to get wind of his decision.
The Nigeria national football team striker has “made a decision” on his future, but has told the media to allow him focus on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations currently happening in Ivory Coast and on the rest of the European season which he is participating in with Napoli.
As one of the world’s most exciting number 9s, the player is courting a lot of interest. Reports indicate that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has mandated the club’s transfer department to do all they can to sign the former LOSC Lille man this January. Boehly has, according to the claims by the media, given up on other targets just to finance the possible £120 million move for Victor.
That fee is as a result of the player signing a contract extension with Napoli a few months ago, after a long dramatic period which included scenarios that could have led to both parties ending their relationship.
Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are also interested in the player. Previous reports have claimed that Real Madrid would also like to sign the Super Eagles striker. There is so much fuss over his future and the player has taken time off his busy AFCON schedule to clear the air.
Speaking in an exclusive interview from the Nigeria national football team camp where they are preparing to face Cameroon in the round of 16 of the 2023 AFCON, Osimhen said: “I have to respect my contract. Whatever happens in the summer everybody will know. For now I am at the AFCON and I am focused on that.”
“The rumour is going around about me linked with the Premier League, but of course, when you are one of the hottest strikers on the globe you expect this type of thing. The EPL is one of the biggest, the best league in the whole world.”
“For me, at Napoli I signed a new contract, I am enjoying my time there. At the end of the season… I already made up my mind. I already know what I want to do with my career. Since I’ve started I’ve been the one taking my own decisions, everything is working out well for me even though I started it didn’t go as well as planned.”
“I already had my plan, I already know the next step I want to take. For now I want to finish the season strong, relax with my daughter, think about my life and then come out with the decision I have already made.”
