AC Milan will face difficulty in signing Renato Sanches, journalist claims

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti claims that AC Milan will find it difficult in their bid to sign former European golden Boy Renato Sanches because the Portuguese still lacks something.

Pellegatti made these claims on his YouTube channel as he was discussing the latest transfer news in and out of Serie A. He praised Sanches for the quality he showed on Tuesday in LOSC Lille’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge while talking about Milan’s interest in the midfielder.

Pellegatti stated that Sanches will fit into Milan playing in a double pivot or as a number 10. However he believes that despite the reports claiming that the signing of Sanches is close, Milan will still find it difficult and unlikely because he is now “a top-tier player from the point of view of quality, but his character qualities must be evaluated”.

Pellegatti also claimed that the Rossoneri “need mature players who know how to manage the pressure of the club and the distractions of the city” while also stating that his departure from Bayern Munich a few seasons ago suggests that there is something Milan are missing in their chase of the midfielder.

Milan identify alternatives to Renato Sanches

Despite news on Sanches to Milan sounding positive, the Rossoneri have reportedly identified two alternatives to the Portuguese from PSV Eindhoven and RC Lens.

Pellegatti, in his comments about Sanches’ potential move to Milan, urged the Rossoneri to be careful before they make a mistake with his signing despite the player’s immense qualities.

Most reports claim that the Rossoneri hope that the midfielder whom they are hoping to replace with Sanches, Franck Kessie, will turn around and sign an extension with the club instead of seeking a new adventure elsewhere.

However, Milan have also identified two alternative targets: 26-year-old Seko Fofana from RC Lens in the French Ligue 1 and 24-year-old Ibrahim Sangare from PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.

Journalist Rudy Galetti, however, reports that dialogue continues with Lille and Sanches’ representatives over a transfer.

Elsewhere, Milan are looking to add Steven Bergwijn, currently on the fringes at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, to their attack in the summer alongside the signing of Sanches or his alternatives in the summer.

The reports claim that the winger is completely lost at Spurs and will likely jump at an opportunity to make a move from Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium to another Stadium which will guarantee him playing time in order to restart his career.

The winger almost moved back to the Eredivisie with Ajax Amsterdam but €25 million asking price was too much for the Eredivisie table leaders. However, Spurs are reported to be ready to let Bergwijn go for lesser than his January asking price which could see the winger available for between €18 million to €20 million.

No official offers have been made from Milan but he has currently made it onto their wish list as a winger of Bergwijn’s quality could not come at a cheaper price for the Rossoneri, according to reports.
