MWOS One Community is committed to supporting local sports and the arts. A lot of top players have made their way from the local Premier Soccer League onto the international football stage. The likes of Marvellous Nakamba and Tino Kadewere, to mention a few, have made it on the international stage, playing for big clubs like Aston Villa and Lyon, respectively. It is for this reason that we value local sports and realize the potential of our local football leagues. We have partnered with Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club as their kit sponsor. MWOS One Community sponsored all three of the Bulawayo Chiefs’ kits, i.e., the home kit, the away kit, and the alternative kit. In addition to the men’s side, we have gone on to assist the Bulawayo Chiefs ladies team, “Amakhosikazi,” after recognizing the importance of supporting women in sport. Bulawayo Chiefs have gone on to win the prestigious Chibuku Super Cup, beating Herentals Group of Colleges by a goal to nil. This win meant that, if ZIFA was not suspended by CAF and FIFA, Bulawayo Chiefs were going to be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup next year, in 2023. Achieving this fit in football means that local players would be able to go out and play against other African teams, giving them an opportunity to be scouted by other clubs.
Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club, popularly known as Amakhosi Amahle, is a Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League (ZPSL) club based in the city of Bulawayo. Having been established in 2012 in the remote town of Plumtree, the team eventually moved into the big city of Bulawayo and embraced the name Bulawayo Chiefs. The club has made great strides towards its goal of contributing positively towards soccer development in the country, entertaining the public as well as nurturing and grooming youths as they showcase their footballing talents. Their football journey started in the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Southern Region League, and they eventually earned promotion into the Premier Soccer League in 2018. They have grown to be known as “The Ninjas,” and they have been dancing with the big boys of the country’s top league.
